eating from Jesus' Hand
Often we ask God for provisions of various kinds and are hoping for, and perhaps expecting? Him to load us up with a lot of it so we won't have to ask again right aways. But the heart of God is for deepening intimacy with us, and so often in our lack He wants to provide opportunities for us to grow in intimacy with Him but having us come to Him over and over...not just to ask for provision but to have fellowship with Him. When we give gifts to those we love, we don't want them to just appreciate the gift, but to see it as an expression of our love for them. I believe this is also Jesus' heart, and so although we sometimes misunderstand when He doesn't provide as quickly or as bountifully at once as we expect or hope, it is very likely in these times that He has us coming back to Him again and again - 'eating out of His hand', so to speak, that He is in the process of wooing us closer to His heart... Rather than feeling like He's not looking after us and rather than being disappointed, perhaps we can see it from His perspective and rejoice in the fact that He is inviting us to keep coming closer so He can enjoy fellowship with us.
