COME OUT OF YOUR CAVE - Figurine, Note Cards
"My dove in the clefts of the rock, in the hiding places on the mountainside, show me your face, let me hear your voice; for your voice is sweet, and your face is lovely." (NIV)
"[So I went with him, and when we were climbing the rocky steps
up the hillside, my beloved shepherd said to me] O my dove, [while you are
here] in the seclusion of the clefts in the solid rock, in the sheltered and
secret place of the cliff, let me see your face, [c]let me hear your voice;
for your voice is sweet, and your face is lovely." Song of Songs 2:14
(Amplified Bible)
'Then he said, "I am the God of your father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob." At this, Moses hid his face, because he was afraid to look at God.' Exodus 3:6 (NIV)
There are times along our spiritual journeys when, at least in some aspects of our lives, we are afraid to look at God or be seen by Him, and we tend to 'hide in a cave'. We do this not only with God, but also with others and even, it seems, hide from ourselves many times rather than facing some of the truth about ourselves. But may we be reminded that Jesus, our Lover, is also wooing us out of our caves and into deeper intimacy with Himself. He wants to reveal to us how HE feels about us, which is His deep affection! It is His love which will remove our 'shyness' and shame, and which will give us the courage to face ourselves, and Him, and to walk into all that He has planned for us, which is FAR BEYOND all that we have asked or imagined! (Ephesians 3).
